
The completed investigation was submitted to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office. On Monday, August 4, 2025, the District Attorney’s Office filed felony charges against Romo and an arrest warrant for Penal Code 518 - Extortion and Penal Code 68 - Soliciting a Bribe was issued.
On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Romo was placed on compulsory leave and was arrested by investigators from the Specialized Investigations Division for the warrant. Romo was booked at the Central Detention Center in lieu of $90,000 bail.
Romo was employed by the Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff since September 2020 and assigned to the Hesperia Station since August 2021.
