February 23, 2026 – San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office officials issue a jury duty scam alert.

The Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam targeting people in SLO County.

Scammers are calling and claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office, saying there is a warrant for your arrest, often for SLOSO scammissing federal jury duty, and demanding immediate payment to avoid being arrested. They are even using the names of real employees to make the call sound legitimate. Payment is typically requested in gift cards or other non traceable methods.

This is a scam.

The Sheriff’s Office will never call to demand money, ask for payment over the phone to clear a warrant, or request gift cards.

If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately and report it to your local law enforcement agency.

Please help spread the word, especially to seniors and vulnerable members of our community.
