Suspect Arrested for Sexual Assault of a Minor 

September 19, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on January 10, 2026, deputies from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station responded to a residence in the unincorporated area of Murrieta regarding a report of a sexual assault involving a minor. During the initial investigation, deputies learned the suspect had exploited a minor victim online and arranged to meet the victim. The suspect traveled to the victim’s residence and sexually assaulted the victim. The Southwest Station Investigation Bureau was contacted and assumed the investigation.

Investigators worked diligently, using law enforcement databases and obtaining multiple search warrants, ultimately identifying the suspect as Alejandro Rojas, a 51-year-old resident of Jurupa Valley.

On September 17, 2026, investigators conducted an online undercover operation in which an investigator posed as a minor. Rojas traveled to the city of Riverside to meet with whom he believed was a minor for sexual exploitation. Investigators arrested Rojas at the location without incident, and he was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for numerous sexual assault related charges. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details will be released.
