Pastors Corner 200

April 18, 2019 - Every now and then I notice how many when asked how they’re doing answer that they are “good”. Of course, this will be true for some but for others it is much easier to just say they are doing “good” when they are anything but that. I get it, I’ll often say “everything is good” when I’m going through a dark period. Yes, Christians do go through high and lows. One day we truly feel good and the next day we could put a wall up and answer that we are “good”.

There are numerous reasons why we do this. We who are Christians must have in our mind that our sin is weighing heavier on our hearts and minds during these times.Elder Wynter Sturtevant

We are confronted with just how fallen we are. It is at these times that we should think of the words of David in Psalm 51:12 when he writes “Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.” He is pleading to God for deliverance from his anguish. David was going through what we also go through. We can find ourselves in low lonesome valleys. During these times we can find comfort in Christ. We are to look to the cross for salvation. Whether you are good or just saying that to get through the day may God restore the joy of your salvation. May God during these dark times, grab our stubborn heads and turn them to the light of the cross which reminds us that because of Christ everything is going to be okay. It is going to be okay because those with faith in Christ are forgiven. Christian, you are forgiven.
