June 4, 2019 - During the month of May, Sierra Foothill Charter School staff worked with students on the meaning of the core virtue of hope. At a school wide assembly on Friday, May 31, teachers recognized students who exemplified this trait.
SFCS 6359Great job to Everett Raczkowski, Mallory Allen, Chloe Sheets, Sophia Bullis, Tyson Shelby, Amaryllis Joslin, Keegan Smerber, Wyatt Evans, and JJ Bolar.

Prior to taking students place on stage, teachers spoke a few words about what hope means in their classrooms and why particular students were chosen. Those students then came up to receive a handshake and certificate from their teacher and a pencil from Principal/Superintendent Bolar.

Home School Coordinator and Teacher Stephanie Evans was recognized as the Staff Person of the Month. As Home School Teacher, Mrs. Evans works closely with all of our home school families, checking in with them frequently, making sure they have all they need, arranging field trips, driving students to field trips if needed and so much more.
SFCS 6361Ms. Bolar spoke about how Ms. Evans is a great pinch-hitter around school. She is often acting as a substitute teacher or substitute aide, helping in the office, helping in the multi, overseeing recesses - wherever help is needed, Ms. Evans steps up to lend a hand. In addition, she is a great example of a life-long learner as Ms. Evans has been taking classes in the evenings to add another credential to her teaching degree.

Throughout the month, students are given tickets when they exhibit behavior that goes beyond what is normally expected. Students place their tickets in jars in their classrooms. When their ticket is picked, they have the option of immediately choosing a prize from the treasure chest in the school office or entering their ticket in a jar for a chance to win the grand prize for the month.

After Friday's school-wide assembly, students enjoyed an hour of fun activities set up by staff.
