January 24, 2024 - Placer County Sheriff’s Office officials report that our dedicated deputies were on patrol when they spotted a vehicle with no front plate and a broken headlight. What seemed like a routine traffic stop turned into something very different. Upon contact, it was revealed that one occupant was on PRCS, allowing a search of the vehicle. PRCS stands for “Post release Community Supervision” and it is a form of supervision provided to an inmate who has been released from custody to the jurisdiction of a county agency. These individuals are typically supervised by county probation officers.
During the search, a loaded handgun was discovered, leading to the arrest of 32-year-old Tyrone Wilson and 43-year-old Marquis Ashford. Both had a criminal history prohibiting firearm ownership.
This incident underscores the daily challenges our law enforcement faces. A seemingly minor violation turned into a significant public safety concern. Kudos to our deputies for their proactive work in making Placer County a safer place.
