Arrest Made in Vandalism Spree
February 16, 2024 - Madera County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Monday, February 12, 2024, Madera County Sheriff's Deputies received reports of multiple vandalisms that occurred on Road 426 in Oakhurst. Windows were shattered at two separate locations - Yosemite Dance Company (damaged estimated at $3,000), and New Community United Methodist Church (damage estimated at $1,000).
In the following days, Deputies conducted follow up investigation on these incidents, and identified suspect Shenandoah Hobbs.
Hobbs, a 44-year-old unhoused resident of the Oakhurst area, was located on February 15, 2024, and arrested for a felony charge of vandalism to a place of worship and a separate felony charge of vandalism relating to the dance studio. He was later booked into the Madera County Jail.
Hobbs is also suspected to be involved in a third felony vandalism that occurred in the 40000 block of CA-41 in Oakhurst. That case has been submitted to the Madera County District Attorneys Office for review of felony vandalism charges.
Sheriff Tyson Pogue stated, “Our commitment to community well-being is unwavering. This arrest sends a clear message that vandalism and disregard for community property will not be tolerated in Madera County.”
