June 14, 2024 – Tulare County Sheriff's Office officials report that the search continues for a missing 17-year-old Tulare girl who slipped and fell into the Kaweah River on Wednesday.

Right now, two dozen first responders, including the TCSO Swiftwater Dive Team, the Kings County Sheriff Water Rescue Unit, the National Park Service, the CHP’s H42 Helicopter and two Drone Operators are on scene looking for the teen.

Water levels still remain very high and the area where the victim fell in, and is extremely dangerous with large whitewater rapids. There are sections of river that cannot safely be searched until water levels drop. However, search efforts continue and swiftwater rescue professionals are in the river searching all accessible stretches of water.

The public is asked stay out of the area while search efforts are in effect.
