As we approach the most firework-heavy holiday weekend of the summer, remember: Fireworks have no place on your public lands. Even consumer fireworks carry serious risks. Sparklers, which may seem child-safe, burn as hot as 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit and can cause third-degree burns. Despite the dangers of fireworks, few people understand the associated risks - burns, other injuries, wildfires, and even death. We all play a role in safety.
