August 21, 2024 – ROSEVILLE, CA – Placer County District Attorney’s Office announced that 55-year-old Brent Clifford, homicide suspect for missing Lake Tahoe woman, appeared in court for arraignment on homicide charges.
The charges stemmed from the missing Lake Tahoe woman case from early August. The search tragically concluded with authorities finding the woman deceased weeks later.
An extensive investigation proceeded by the Placer County Sheriff's Office. This resulted in Clifford’s apprehension in Portola on August 14 with the assistance of the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to Placer County by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
Clifford appeared on August 16 on identify theft and fraudulent use of a card. He was held on no bail over the weekend, pending Monday’s arraignment. Clifford is now charged with murder, as well.
The defendant appeared in court where the arraignment was continued to the next court date on Sept. 9 in Department 20 at 8:30 A.M. The defendant remains in custody on no bail.
