January 10, 2025 - SACRAMENTO – On Thursday, Governor Gavin Newsom issued the following statement regarding the death of Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Timothy Corlew:
“It is with profound sadness that Jennifer and I extend our condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Deputy Corlew. His unwavering commitment to protecting and serving the community exemplifies the very best of what it means to be a public servant. We are forever grateful for his service and will never forget his sacrifice.”
Deputy Corlew, 40, passed away on January 8, 2025, as a result of an on-duty traffic collision.
Corlew had served with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office for nine years.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
Flags at the State Capitol and Capitol Annex Swing Space will be flown at half-staff in honor of Deputy Corlew.

Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that the Department is saddened to announce the death of Deputy Timothy Corlew, who was assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station. Deputy Corlew was involved in an on-duty traffic collision on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
Deputy Corlew began his service with our Department on February 1, 2016. After graduating from the 198th Basic Academy, he was assigned to Sheriff’s Court Services before transferring to the Jurupa Valley Station on August 29, 2019. Deputy Corlew completed Motor School in June 2022 and was working Motor Enforcement at the time of his death.
On behalf of the entire Department, we extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Deputy Timothy Corlew.
Please continue to pray for Deputy Corlew’s wife, two sons, and the men and women of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office as we grieve this loss.
