
UPDATE: Victim Identified in Suspicious Le Grand RV Fire Investigation
March 24, 2025 – Le Grand, CA – Merced County Sheriff’s Office officials report that in conjunction with Arson Investigators from Merced County Fire, continues to investigate the cause of a suspicious fire that occurred on March 7, 2025, at approximately 11:27 P.M. in the 3800 block of Washington in Le Grand.
Through forensic examination and dental records, the Merced County Coroner's Office has positively identified the male victim as 54-year-old Rodney Lefler who was the owner of the RV. Authorities are continuing their efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire, including whether accelerants were used. Additional forensic testing is still in progress.
