County of Fresno Department of Public Works and Planning Urges Residents to Pinpoint Local Traffic Safety Concerns Through Online Mapping Tool

December 9, 2025 – Fresno County’s Department of Public Works officials are asking residents to play a key role in shaping a safer transportation future by using a new online mapping exercise designed to capture community-identified traffic safety problem areas. The tool is available on the County’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) project webpage and allows the public to drop pins, mark danger spots, and provide comments.

The mapping activity is part of the County’s SS4A Action Plan effort—an initiative focused on reducing traffic deaths and serious injuries through data-driven analysis and community input.  County staff emphasize that residents’ firsthand knowledge of the roads they walk, drive, roll on, and bike on every day is essential for identifying locations that need improvement.

“Local insight is one of the most important pieces of this safety plan,” Public Works Director Steve White noted. “People know exactly where speeding occurs, where crossings feel unsafe, or where visibility is poor. That information will directly shape safety strategies and future investments."

The mapping tool allows participants to:

  • Drop pins on locations where safety is a concern.
  • Describe specific issues such as speeding, lack of sidewalks, dangerous crossings, or near-miss experiences.
  • Suggest ideas for improvements.

Residents can access the mapping tool by visiting: app.maptionnaire.com/q/fresnocountycsap.
