December 20, 2025 - The Merced County Department of Public Health, in coordination with its public safety partners, will soon transition Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations from Sierra Emergency Medical Services Alliance-Riggs (SEMSA) to American Medical Response (AMR), effective December 31, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. (noon).
This transition has been coordinated among all agencies to ensure no disruption in emergency medical response or patient care. Community members can be assured that 911 calls for medical emergencies will continue to be answered promptly, with the same high level of professionalism and dedication they expect.
