September 14, 2023 - San Diego Police Department officials report that Western Division officers conducted a routine traffic stop due to an equipment violation. What initially seemed like a minor infraction quickly escalated. Upon further investigation, the driver, an active parolee, attempted to flee but was promptly apprehended. A subsequent search revealed a loaded handgun, 4 pounds of a controlled substance, cash, and multiple cell phones – all indicative of potential narcotics sales.
The individual is now facing multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance while armed, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a high-capacity magazine, and intent to sell narcotics, among others. Even seemingly small infractions can lead to significant discoveries, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.
