SST LTRAugust 31, 2018 - We are writing a letter of support for the first time, compelled by hearing that Ms. Judy Eppler has an opposing candidate for the District 3 School Board position. Ms. Eppler has convinced us through her actions as a current school board member that she is the best person for the job.

We first met Ms. Eppler at school board meetings in 2011-2012, when we participated in the planning of Sierra Foothill Charter School.  We were pleasantly surprised by the courteous interactions we had with her, but even more importantly we were impressed with the questions she asked that revealed she had closely studied the documents we had helped prepare.  For a school board member, we need someone who approaches every item on the agenda with professionalism, and Ms. Eppler is precisely that person.

Our more recent interactions with Ms. Eppler have taken place at MES, our children’s school.  We volunteer for many school functions, and Ms. Eppler always greets us with a smile and a “thank you” whenever our paths cross.

Last year, thanks to our school district’s wonderful teachers and administrators, our daughter made it to the state level in a competition.  Within days, we received a beautifully hand written congratulatory card from Ms. Eppler, with kind words of encouragement.  We were so touched by her gentle gesture, and knew in our hearts that she truly cares about the children of this community.  We also realized that she must be in very close contact with our school leadership, otherwise the card wouldn’t have arrived so quickly.

This is an exciting time for county public schools.  Our schools and students will see and feel the improvements enabled by Measure L bond funds. To make the most of these funds, we need board members with sufficient experience in our district’s schools to know their needs, who are current on state regulations, and, most importantly, who have shown they are committed to all public school students in our county.  Ms. Judy Eppler is all of these, and more.  We hope you agree with us and vote for her this fall.
