October 19, 2018 - With the extraordinary decision handed down by our U. S. Supreme Court that "Corporations are People" in recent years, extraordinary sums of money have literally swamped our election system. Each election cycle, whether midterm or general, eye popping donations through various sources have been reported perhaps even more going unreported.
Has it ever occurred to the average voter that some of this largess may not be legitimate "people"?
Most of our global corporations are listed on the U.S. stock exchange as well as other exchanges around the world, allowing investors from every corner of the globe to stash their cash in exchange for dividends. Plus giving the stockholder the right to vote and influence the corporation's activities. Has anybody thought to question just who these investors are?
May I point out that one of these same investors, frequently cited in the news, is based in Macau, a part of China.
But the right to vote is ours, we the people. And if we fail to vote for whatever reason, we fail to support our democratic institutions so precious and so admired around the globe. So please go and vote. Yes, your vote counts, your vote is important. Your vote will preserve the Union two wars have fought for. Your vote will help to compensate the blood of our young people shed in the defense of the United States of America.
