SST LTRThe Mariposa County High School Band and Boosters extend thanks to everyone who supports and has supported the Grizzly Band these past few years.  The funds you so generously give, your support of the band concerts, your words of encouragement and love of music are appreciated.

Thank you sincerely, Mariposa and Sierra Foothill community for your support and kindness of the MCHS Grizzly, Grammy Award Winning Band. The Grizzly Band is a “Little Band with a Big Sound” and loves to represent Mariposa and all Veterans.

In appreciation for your support, Mariposa and Sierra Foothills, the Mariposa County High School Grizzly Band performed a free concert “A Concert of Gratitude” last Tuesday, June 2nd  at 7 p.m. in the MCHS Richard D. Fiester Auditorium. A slide show, produced by Theresa Munn Jay (Mom) and a video produced by Owen Crespi (7th grader) were shown of the bands DC trip. Both showings were well received by all those in attendance. Christina Hall, Field Representative for Congressman Tom McClintock, presented an American Flag that flew over our Nations Capital. The flag will be flown at various Mariposa County Unified School District schools that had students in the Grizzly band in DC. Christina also presented an “EXTENSION OF REMARKS” RECOGNIZING THE MARIPOSA COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL GRIZZLY BAND FOR ITS CHIEVEMENTS AND COMMITMENT TO VETERANS. This was entered into the Congressional Records by HONORABLE TOM MCCLINTOCK OF CALIFORNIA IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, Wednesday, May 20, 2015.

Words of thanks and appreciation certificates were presented to several deserving individuals. The Grizzly Color Guard escorted Sgt. Joe Williams of the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Department to the front of the auditorium to honor and thank him for his support of Mariposa youth and for escorting the returning bus of Grizzly Band members and boosters into town to the MCHS campus.

Certificate of appreciation was given to Band Booster President, Lisa Mirassou for her leadership, coordination and countless hours of hard work in making the Washington DC trip a success. Donna Wight and Dick Hutchinson were recognized for their countless number of hours in writing letters of solicitation for funds and thank you letters to those who were donors. The two MCHS night custodians Tom and Deniece Hoffman were also recognized for their support throughout the school year during all the band bake sales during MSO and Grizzly Band concerts and during Story Telling Festival. The Grizzly Band members presented Mr. Fiester with a copy of the U.S. Constitution with all the band member’s signatures at the bottom with those who originally signed the Constitution. They also gave Mr. Fiester a gift certificate and a lot of very kind words of appreciation for his leadership as band director, his love of music and his spirit of keeping Dr. Smith’s legend alive in the music the band plays. The Band Boosters gave Mrs. Fiester lovely flowers in appreciation for the countless hours her husband was away from her during band competitions, practices and the Washington DC trip.  Mr. Fiester thanked everyone in attendance for their support financially and kind words of support through the past few years as the band prepared for competitions and the Washington DC trip.

Thank you once again, Mariposa, and the Sierra Foothill Communities.
