May 24, 2022 - Supervisor Smallcombe's response to Katee Owens’ comments regarding Fire Insurance was astonishing in her lack of decorum with her openly sarcastic tone to her constituent’s opinion.  For supervisor Smallcombe to state the many hours and meetings she had regarding insurance and also stating they “only drew blood" is of no benefit to the many thousands of homeowners who have already been cancelled altogether or had increases doubling, tripling or quadrupling their rates. 

It is commendable that Supervisor Smallcombe did make an effort, however it didn’t help any of us who have been faced with retaining our homeowners insurance.

As to re-electing Supervisor Smallcombe I am more concerned with the Biomass Plant she and her husband had already been promoting prior to her seeking her first term in office.  This project is alive and is a plant that would become our first Stationary Source of Pollution.  If constructed here, it could trigger smog checks for our vehicles.  The conditional use permit granted by Mariposa County to build this facility was granted an 18 month extension this past July 2021. If this plant is built it

will ruin our town as we know it. It could "dry-up" all of our adjacent wells and it would definitely increase truck traffic and cause road damage through our town.

We are not an Industrial County. The land obtained for this project is in a PDZ (Planned Development Zone).

So folks think very seriously regarding the effect such a business could have on Mariposa County. Weigh the benefits vs. costs.  Does this project actually benefit the citizens or is it just Greenwashing?

Think seriously about this!
