October 11, 2022 - I am a lifelong Catheys Valley resident who attended Mariposa county schools before going on to college and grad school. My husband Brian is a middle school teacher who formerly taught at the Sierra Foothill Charter School. We are writing in support of Robert Morse for District 3 Representative on the Mariposa County Unified School District board and urge our community to vote for him as well.
Robert Morse is by far the best candidate for this position. He has worked in schools for 28 years – with 13 of those years as Director of Maintenance, Operations, Transportation and Facilities for two school districts - including MCUSD. He has experience managing large school budgets and knowledge of how things work within our education system. He is an avid supporter of our local schools. He volunteered to facilitate a bus rental for SFCS and trained bus drivers, helped to attain funding for a clean air bus for SFCS, and assisted the installation of the Catheys Valley Preschool building. Even though he is technically retired, he currently serves as the SFCS bus driver and custodian. He is also active within the community, which include being a current member of the Lion's Club, the MCUSD Citizen's Bond Oversight Committee and the Mariposa Fire Safe Council. He also coaches for Mariposa County Little League.
Mr. Morse has clear goals that he hopes to meet as a school board member, which are outlined on his campaign website. His priorities include: filling the staff shortage, staff and student safety, special education, and putting a stop to bullying. He has demonstrated a commitment to schools and students. Mr. Morse has a coherent vision for what he'd like to help accomplish in the future, and has shown dedication to his campaign by meeting and talking with constituents. This includes participating in every candidate forum. There is no better candidate for District 3 than Robert Morse.
As you cast your ballots, consider which candidate is seeking a position on the school board to help students in our schools, has shown a dedication to schools as a career path, has been involved in our community and who has the experience to take on this job. That candidate is clearly Robert Morse. As he says: It's "all about the kids." And that's the kind of person we need to serve our county's students.
