September 13, 2024 – Suzette Prue is running for a four-year term for JCF Healthcare District Director after being elected in S Prue2022 to a two-year term.

Having just completed working for the Mariposa Fair, Prue is focused on her campaign. Several citizens during the fair told Prue the director role was a thankless job. Prue stated “For me, it’s not about thanks or accolades. I seek another term because I care about the citizens of Mariposa County and the level of healthcare provided. The JCF Healthcare District is being restructured, evolving, and planning for the future replacement hospital.”

Prue has extensive experience and accomplishments assisting JCFHD while in and out of office. As a 40-year resident of Mariposa, Prue began volunteering for the JCF Hospital Foundation, its fundraising arm, in 1986 and was co-creator of its largest fundraiser, the Black and White Ball, which will be celebrated again this November.

Prior to her election in 2022 she co-chaired Measure O, a citizens’ initiative to raise funds for construction of a new hospital which is a state mandated requirement to be completed by 2030. Measure O passed with a super majority and as a hospital board member Prue worked with the USDA to receive preliminary approval of a loan for the new facility. When the hospital board created an Ad Hoc Committee to oversee the construction project Prue was named as chair. She works closely with the project manager and financing firms to ensure the new facility is completed by 2030.

Her proudest accomplishment is the recent decision to form a patient advisory council. “I have been advocating for a place for patients to have a voice for many years,” stated Prue. “I look forward to the selection of community members and the first kick off meeting in the near future.”

Just two weeks ago Prue was nominated by peers to be presented the Hospital Trustee of the Year Award at the Association of California Healthcare Districts at their annual conference in late September. “I am truly humbled by this nomination,” said Prue.

Prue acknowledges, during her most recent two-year term (2022-2024), JCFHD faced its most tumultuous time with multiple executive management changes. Prue supported the recent CEO change in April, 2024 and the engagement of a financial turnaround firm starting this month. “Warbird Consulting Partners will ensure our revenue cycle from registration, charge capture, billing and collections will be revised. Warbird also is charged with recommending alterations to JCFHD’s expense structure, managed care contracts and cost reporting strategy. I seek to continue to oversee and guide this work using my extensive financial management experience.”

"I have proven myself to be your advocate. My knowledge of JCFHD history and 21st Century medicine combined with empathy continues to drive my every decision. I bring focused leadership, common sense, and the courage to make the right decisions."

"I've leant a steady, patient compassionate, and fiscally responsive hand. I'm a healthcare district board member who has advocated for patient centric care through turbulent times. I'm not a quitter. Push through with me. Join me. I've made hard decisions and continue to not accept mediocrity for Mariposa County citizens."

“I would sincerely appreciate your vote in November,” concluded Prue.
