October 25, 2024 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report that property crimes detectives have arrested 37-year-old Jose Munoz Trujillo of Fresno and 33-year-old Joshua Garcia of Porterville.  They have been booked into the Fresno County Jail.  Garcia faces charges of robbery, auto theft and carjacking.  Munoz Trujillo faces a charge of carjacking for the crime he committed with Garcia.  However, he also charges of robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of stolen property for his role in the Adams Market robbery on October 8th.  Garcia has a bail amount of $100,000, but he is currently not eligible for bail due to the carjacking charge.  Munoz Trujillo has a total bail amount of $400,000.

On the afternoon of October 3rd, Garcia and Munoz Trujillo carjacked an Amazon worker who was making a delivery near N. Dower and W. Dakota Avenues in Fresno.  They pointed a gun at the employee and took their Amazon van, which contained packages.  The suspects fled in the van and a black Toyota Corolla they originally arrived in.

Responding deputies developed information about the Toyota and located it near N. Pleasant and W. Home Avenues.  Deputies found Amazon packages in plain view inside the car.  In this same area, deputies made contact with Joshua Garcia and placed him under arrest.  Detectives later searched the car and found a loaded pistol inside.

Deputies continued searching for the Amazon van on October 3rd.  They eventually found it abandoned not too far away from the location where it was originally taken.

Detectives obtained information that Jose Munoz Trujillo may have been the other suspect in this robbery.  Members of multiple units in the Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant on October 18th at a home located at 1363 N. Hughes Ave. in Fresno.  There they found firearms and other evidence related to both the Amazon carjacking and the Adams Market Robbery.  Deputies contacted 36-year-old Johnny Munoz at the home, who is the brother of Jose Munoz Trujillo.  Johnny attempted to run away.  Sheriff’s K-9 Kane was deployed and while apprehending him, Johnny punched the dog.  Deputies ultimately took Johnny into custody.  It was discovered Fresno Police had issued a warrant for his arrest for committing an unrelated home invasion robbery.  Johnny Munoz was booked into jail with a bail of $775,000.  Meanwhile, detectives learned Jose Munoz Trujillo was in Exeter.  They travelled to that city and arrested him.
