Mari Bullis Joins JCF Hospital Foundation Board
July 29, 2025 – Recently, the John C. Fremont Hospital Foundation board welcomed Maricella Bullis to its team.
Bullis is an Emergency Room Technician and certified EMT with a decade of service at John C. Fremont Healthcare District. In her role in the Emergency Department, she provides essential frontline care with a strong commitment to patient outcomes and operational excellence.
“My interest in being a part of the Hospital Foundation board stems from my desire to foster meaningful connections between the hospital, staff, and the wider Mariposa County Community,” said Bullis. “I have a deep commitment to the health and financial stability of the Healthcare District.”
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Maricella serves as the Union Vice President and Sergeant at Arms of the AFSCME Local 2703 John C. Fremont Chapter. She plays a key role in labor relations and workforce advocacy, working to strengthen staff engagement, morale, and organizational transparency.
“The Board is incredibly grateful for Mari’s interest in serving,” said Heather Bernikoff, Foundation President. “She comes to the Foundation with proven leadership skills and a passion for healthcare.”
“The Foundation has enjoyed significant participation from District staff in the past,” Bernikoff continued, “and we hope Mari is only the first of many who will serve on the board.” Bullis is taking over the Vending Program at the hospital from board members Megan Mickel and Anna Meijas who have served dedicatedly in that role for the past year.
Bullis joins JCF Hospital Foundation board members Heather Bernikoff, President; Mike Wichmann, Vice President; Jill Harry, Secretary; Saralynn Nusbaum, Finance Committee Chair; Megan Mickel, Events Committee Co-chair; Anna Meijas, Events Committee Co-chair; and Beth Tomsick, fundraising committee chair. Miranda Wass is the Hospital Foundation’s Executive Administrator.
The JCF Hospital Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the rural communities of the John C. Fremont Healthcare District (JCFHD) to maximize health through partnership and philanthropy. The Foundation strengthens communities by working together to achieve mutual health goals. The Foundation’s philanthropic partnerships with JCFHD and the communities it serves span over 40 years.
