November 2, 2025 – Madera County Sheriff's Office officials report that over two weeks ago, Search and Rescue
team was called to assist Fresno County under mutual aid after a hunter from Selma went missing in the Shaver Lake area. For eleven days, our team joined countless dedicated rescuers, working long hours through rugged terrain, cold nights, and steep mountain slopes, all united by one goal: to bring someone’s loved one home.
On Saturday, we are grateful to share that the hunter has been found alive. This outcome reminds us why we do what we do, because every call, every hour, and every search matters.
We are proud to stand beside our neighboring agencies, supporting one another when it matters most.
Sheriff Pogue shared, “Public safety doesn’t stop at the county line. When one of our neighbors needs help, we answer the call, just like they would for us. That’s the strength of mutual aid, and it’s how we keep all our communities safer.”
Thank you to everyone who supported this search through prayers, volunteerism, and hope. Together, we make a difference.
