When wildfires strike so does the likelihood of potential scams.

Unfortunately, during times of disaster and stress, some may look to take advantage of others. Homeowners and property owners should be on alert for different types of scams:

- Identity theft, phone calls asking for personal information

- Looting of areas without power, property theft from vehicles

- False officials, volunteers, or other agency "representatives"

- Individuals offering a "service" requesting pay before service is provided.
