November 17, 2024 – Modoc County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they are asking for the public’s continued 
vigilance about a phone scam.
The caller is impersonating our members by claiming to be a Sergeant from our office and requests a call back regarding a legal matter.
The Modoc County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER conduct matters concerning warrant service, missed jury duty, missed court dates or payment of fines over the phone.
Do not provide the caller with any personal information or call them back. We urge you to be aware of these ongoing and evolving scams.
If you have been a victim of this scam, please contact your local law enforcement agency to file a police report.
