Cold Case “Wilseyville Jane” – Help Us Identify This Woman
September 29, 2025 – Calaveras County Sheriff's Office officials report that the Calaveras Cold Case Task Force is asking for
the public’s help in identifying a woman whose remains were discovered in Wilseyville, CA, in 1985 during the investigation of serial killings.
What We Know:
- Her remains were found in June of 1985.
- DNA/Forensic Genealogy shows she was likely born between 1960 and 1965.
- She had strong family ties to Sevier Valley, Utah, through both her mother and father.
- She may have had blue eyes, intermediate to dark hair, and a pale to intermediate skin tone.
- She may have gone missing in the early 1980s.
- Investigators have confirmed her birth father through DNA (his name will not be publicly released, and he is deceased). We are now seeking her birth mother and ultimately, her true name.
Despite hard work, her identity is still unknown. We believe someone may remember a missing daughter, sister, or friend from Utah’s Sevier Valley (or surrounding areas, including Salt Lake City) who disappeared during the 1960s–1980s. This person may have been adopted as an infant or young child."
She deserves to be identified. Her family deserves closure.
This case, known as “Wilseyville Jane Doe,” remains unsolved.
